Pashto Pop Singer Rahim Shah Biography and Photos

He was born on 3rd April 1976 and bred in Karachi. Swat is his ancestral home, but he speaks fluently the native lingo. This was the reason for the dearth of apparent Pushto vision in his life.

He started his career in late 90's as a solo singer with a lot of hits to his credit from the day he started his career including "Ghum" that broke the records of popularity. "Ghum" is not Rahim Shah's personal composition. It is an Afghani folk song or tappa, sung by an anonymous singer. Later famous Pushto singer, Haroon Bacha, also sung it, but the credit goes to Rahim Shah who translated the "tappa" into urdu and gave it his own arrangement. In a short span of time Rahim has proven his singing talent beyond all questions. He sang "Ghum" under the supervision of "Salman Alvi". He recorded his album and tried to work hard on making it different from what others are churning out. The song turned out to be a huge hit and whosever listened to that song appreciated the touch. Rahim Shah was bitter over the recent plagiatism of his song by Indian singer Altaf Raja. He copied Rahim's song "Ghum" and gained popularity on satellite channels. Eight of his albums have been released till date, of which, four are in Pushto and four in Urdu.

He released a Pushto album "Peera" after that which was also a big hit. He worked on another album which was titled "Sabaro" that has some of the good numbers to date such as Tap Tap and Payal. Later, he worked on a Pushto album again titled "Medda Medda" the same year. Around this time he took a break and came back with another hit album "Channa". He was working on three videos, two of which includes Priya and Rang Lai Mehndi have been done by Sarwar while Tere Ishq Ne has been directed by Suhail Javed. "Jhoola" is also his favorite song he especially sung this song to his mother. He loves his mother a lot.

He said that the only difference that he saw between his debut album and his latest one is that of "music arrangement" he wanted to be a play back singer initially, and this time he feels he is able to achieve that thing. He feels that he is not on the track where he wanted to be. Rahim stressed on the fact that "there are very few people who are doing professional music" some of them want to make commercial music and want to get a hit by making a song or a phrase or dialogue that is very common. It is not the age when melodies would be hit, but by the end of the day you'll realize that what people like and want to listen to is melody. Even if the commercial pop is a hit still you can see that it is very short lived. The only music that you can keep liking after some time is the one that has a very good melody.

His new 12 track album which has taken a year to produce, will be released by the help of TP Company. He has given the real touch to his arrangements that is why he has used real music in the songs. He has used in this album. He has also worked hard on the arrangements. It has film based music, folk music as well as the pop music, He is working on the video right now. At this time it is getting too tough to make an album hit without the use of some visual and marketing aids like high budget videos. Rahim Shah said about India's pop music, "There is no doubt that we have got a very good music but Indians have a very good market.

Rahim's favorite singers are Salman Alvi, Nayyara Noor and Asha. He has interest in welfare work but doesn't like to ask for donation. If God willing he will carry out the welfare project from his own pocket. He said about his short hair that "better singer is known by his cheerful/sweet vocals/sound not by his long hair".

And a place for supporting the orphans i-e flood affected and war affected /operation.

Zeek Afridi a young ,talented singer of KPK who broke all the records in Pushto music world , and giving the new trend and life to pushto music , award winner of Best Pushto singer 2010 has started social work in 2005 when earth quick came and left so many homeless established medical camps , shows for the kids .
Then worked with IDPS of SAWAT ,MIRANSHAH in different camps specially in jolozai camp by establishing medical camps .
Finally flood knocked the door and more then 20 million people where affected from flood again a challenge to the people , and was far more bigger then Earth Quick , IDPS and all in most affected areas not only houses were damaged but the crops the forms the animals all were killed and destroyed .
People were left homeless and there was nothing left for them . There was only hope .
And by the grace of God many people contributed financially by donations sending the food drinking water, in the same manner Zeek Foundation organized medical camps in which 9,765 people from affected area were given free medical treatment and free medicines as well,in which 75 percent were women and children,
Secondly distributed cash amongst the artist affected from flood and the widows of musicians and singers.
Thirdly targeted the primary schools which are been affected from flood and is now out of order .Targeted 12 primary schools on which work will start soon .
Zeek Afridi arranged musical shows for kids in affected area to bring them out from the shock which they had.
